Northern Beaches Advocate: Council weighs in
Northern Beaches Council has weighed in on the Sea Eagles pride jersey controversy.
This week’s meeting of Council (Tuesday, 26 July) unanimously voted to support a motion of urgency brought by Narrabeen ward Councillor Vincent De Luca OAM to commend the National Rugby League (NRL) and the decision of the Manly Sea Eagles to wear a LGBTQIA (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer or Questioning Intersex Asexual or Allies) pride jersey.

A number of Councillors spoke in favour of Cr De Luca’s motion, which was seconded by Greens Councillor Kristyn Glanville.
“This is an important motion given current events. For those who aren’t part of the LGBT community, it can sometimes be unclear why these initiatives matter. But speaking to people in the LGBT community it is so important to be seen and to feel included.
